Performance: Life is art in motion
Movement has always been my primary language.
I make sense of my life and the world by being in my body; my senses are alive and active as I engage with the people and environment around me.
Everything happens in relationship. I am first in relationship to myself–inside and outside. That allows me to explore relationships with other people and the environment around me. It also allows me to be in an embodied relationship to thoughts, feelings, and ideas.
As a small child I began making songs out of sounds so I could feel my experiences. Then I began to make dances to make sense of the world as I perceived it. I have never stopped. As a dancer, improviser, and choreographer, my interest in is establishing a relationship with the audience that feels relevant and invites a two-way process of engagement and communication. I want everyone to be moved and moving.
As an artist and activist, I am deeply invested in the process that produces a memorable performance. I like to explore big themes, complex societal issues, relationships, humor and emotions. I am collaborative by nature and get tremendous pleasure from sharing creative processes with other artists.
