Change is the Only Constant
When we bring into movement what is bound or stuck, we have more choices. Having more choices increases the resiliency of our organisms.
When we allow the innate intelligence of our body-mind to express itself through fluid movement, we increase our capacity to handle transitions and change. When our body-mind is allowed to move, there are instant changes to our physiology that mean we are more available for neuroception – our ability to distinguish whether situations or people are safe, dangerous, or life threatening. When we are safe enough to move then we can relax and recover. Only by giving ourselves the chance to recover can we become more aware and resilient.
Somanautiko is about learning to trust our ability to sense and perceive our experiences. Our inner truths love to be recognized and named. Somanautiko gives us a process to do just that.
This work, called Somanautiko, is really a process of deep inner play and discovery. It is fueled by curiosity. It was birthed from questions like:
- What does it mean to live fully in a human body?
- How do we awaken our awareness of ourselves, our bodies, and live in that awareness and in sensation?
- How do we make meaning from our experiences?
- How do we handle change?
- How do we meet obstacles or challenges to our sense of wholeness?
- What does it mean to deeply rest and recover?
- How do we live gracefully through the different phases of our life?
- How do we find coherency and continuity as we grow and change?
Change, The Inevitable
Change is to one man the death of a friend,
To another the birth of a child.
Change is the shifting of soft winds of spring,
to a hurricane deadly and wild.
Change is the moving of the hourglass sands,
It’s the coming of dawn after dark.
Change is taking one step at a time,
The emotion in each person’s heart.
But change in the end, will not change at all
The one constant in everyone’s lives
Change is the light at the end of the tunnel
The healer who opens our eyes.
